Honeymoon Day 1 - New Orleans

Day one of the honeymoon we spent driving 8 hours to New Orleans and spending New Years in NOLA.  We figured that since our cruise left on the 1st, we would spend the 31st getting crunk in NOLA and then leave for the boat in the morning.  This was actually a great plan.  We had never been to NOLA before, and it was more than we expected.

N'awlins is actually quite amazing.  There is so much culture and pride for their city there.  Everywhere you turn you either see someone very interesting or see a building that looks 100 years old.
After checking into the hotel, we went on a quest to find fried fish.  I REALLY wanted some fish n' chips.  Luckily finding fried fish in NOLA wasn't a hard quest.  We ended up finding a place right away and were in and out in 30 minutes.

We decided to go explore the SO FAMOUS Bourbon street, and check out where they sold "The Jester", a drink that some billboard claimed was the strongest in the world.  Luckily, we found the Jester pretty quickly.  It was really strong, as the sign had so accurately warned us.
After exploring bourbon street, we realized that we needed to go back to the hotel and change to be better prepared to celebrate NYE in style...meaning comfortable shoes. We headed back out around 5:00...maybe a little earlier.  As no surprise, it was already really crowded everywhere but that is what made it fun.

We saw a gold "statue" dancer guy, did some karaoke at "Cat's Meow"

Where some lady stole my song...
And where I was also able to take a picture with this guy.
We left Cat's Meow and then went to walk around and see what else this infamous street had to offer.  We got to see horses
See a man dressed as a woman
And we saw this guy!
We also got pizza from a little shop, went into Voodoo shops, got more drinks, and got me more food - soft pretzels! NOM NOM!  We also passed by probably 20 "men's clubs" where the women did not leave much to the imagination while soliciting visitors on the streets.  Our New Year's Kiss is a good example of the types of places we passed.
We continued walking around, taking pictures of ourselves doing the ever famous "extend arm out and take a picture hoping it looks good" technique, and having a blast.

By this time, we were already pretty tired (we're an old married couple now) so we decided to head away from the craziness,

go to IHOP and call it a night so we could be well rested for our trip to the Carribbean!!!
In the cruise terminal waiting to board our honeymoon cruise!
I would say day 1 was a complete success!!!
